Recorded at the Paris Cinema, London, UK. Alternative mix of OoTD. Interesting listen. Good SQ. From the info file: Pink Floyd 1971-09-30 Paris Cinema, One of These Days, alternative mix (24bit/96kHz) Pink Floyd Paris Cinema, Lower Regent Street, London, England 30 September 1971 Lineage: Unknown gen cassette (TDK CDing-II - chrome position) > *Technics RS-B965-M > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Audacity 2.0.3 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) xACT used to create FFP *The Technics RS-B965-M is a modified deck - for details see the Tapeheads.net forum One Of These Days (alternative mix) Running time: 7 mins 25 secs This was circulated in the 1990s as a rehearsal take of 'One Of These Days' performed ahead of the BBC 'In Concert' recording. It would be nice if this were true. It is instead the BBC performance we all have but a weird mix of it. Certain things are missing like the opening bass taps and other things are highlighted. There's also a bit of tuning at the start that gets repeated, possibly to enhance the sense that it is a rehearsal. I received my cassette in 1994 from a source who got his tape on a visit to a well known collector and archivist. It is mono and I dropped the weaker channel for this transfer. My tape ran somewhere between 4% and 4.5% slow, so I applied a 4% speed correction. The recording does not sound as good as the regular version of the show but is perfectly listenable. Other copies did the rounds in the DAT era and this tape sounds better. With thanks to goldenband for his help in unravelling the mystery. Neonknight, August 2013 |
