| Recorded at the Westfalenhalle, Dortmund, Germany. Very good audience recording. Note: both 24bit and 16bit versions are included. Outside The Wall From Syd's original notes: I received the cassettes in a trade around 2000, back when traders still mailed cassette tapes. Some cassettes had generation information, but these did not. I traded with about 30 people from the USA, Germany, and England. I do not remember who sent them to me. Syd's original transfer (Sony TC-WE635 > Philips CDR 760 > Goldwave) had heavy digital clipping from too high of a record level on the transfer. Much of the fidelity of the tape was not captured. Mastering notes: This tape has some generation loss but still has the sound quality to require high resolution (24/96) transfer to fully capture. The dynamics are still very punchy. The azimuth issues that can be heard are recorded from an earlier generation analog transfer - this copy was accurately aligned. The playback speed (a moving target) was manually adjusted during the transfer to the best of my ability. There is no digital processing of any kind (gain adjustments or speed corrections). There is a 15.7KHz noise present in the recording. This could be the result of a video tape in the lineage or simply an poorly shielded video monitor bleeding into an analog transfer sometime in this tapes history. This recorder is incomplete due to tape changes at the show. The missing sections have been patched from rec1 (WALLweed WWRM019). No portions of rec2 were altered or omitted. This is a stereo recording of a concert that was presented in surround sound. This is by far the best sounding recorder of the 3 available. A raw copy of rec1 could possibly have very good sound as well but the WALLweed version has been all but destroyed by brutal low res processing. Rec3 is very distant. Since the lineage is unknown and the possibility of finding a lower gen copy exists, no mastering will be done to this recording for now. A downsampled 16/44.1 version for burning to CD is also provided. No dynamic range limiting was done to accommodate the CD format's limited dynamic range so this version will be compromised. Do not sell. Free trade only. Please share the complete set, not just the CD copy and certainly not mp3 reductions. You may not care but the next person down the line from you might be devastated if you don't!
