Barbell is in This was the final night of IQ's 1985 UK tour with Wishbone Ash, and IQ's very first appearance at Hammersmith Odeon, if only as support act. During the Paul Menel era they performed at Hammersmith Odeon again, once supporting Magnum and once supporting Mike and the Mechanics. This was the very first show I ever tried to remaster. I wasn't happy with the result, so I tried again a bit later. According to some, this is a high generation soundboard recording, but I doubt that. I think it was recorded from very close to the PA, as the sound is quite clear and bright with little audience noise around the taper but some strange side effects in the panning (during the start of The magic roundabout, or the middle bit of Widow's peak), which leads me to believe the taper must have been to the extreme left or right of the stage, effectively only capturing one half of the panning. But hey, I could be wrong ;-) Remastered from an unknown generation copy of the original analog audience recording using Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 4.5 and various plugins.
