Recorded at the Amstel Free Concert, Amsterdamse Bos, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Great audience recording. This recording has more 'high' than 'Early Tours'. From the info file: Pink Floyd 1971-06-26 Barrett’s Revenge LP, Amsterdam Recorder 1 (24bit/96kHz) Pink Floyd Amstel Free Concert, Amsterdamse Bos, Amsterdam, Holland, Recorder 1 26 June 1971 Lineage: LP > Micro Seiki DQX-1000 turntable (Denon high-output MC stylus) > Yamaha DSP-AX3200 receiver > Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 > Audacity > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) > Neonknight (see notes below) > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) xACT used to create FFP 01 Careful With That Axe, Eugene 02 Cymbaline 03 Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun 04 A Saucerful Of Secrets 05 The Embryo Total running time 59 mins 34 secs A great performance and excellent stereo audience recording by the N brothers. Preclicktrack kindly sent me a high res transfer of his copy of the LP to work on and I gently tidied it up: * ClickRepair - automated, declick 20, decrackle 20, x3 method; a non-destructive approach to removing some of the clicks and crackles * iZotope RX3 - high quality digital clipping declip of some very minor examples of clipping during the applause * Reaper - trimming dead air, speed correction, divided into tracks, moved The Embryo to the end and exported to FLAC. My thanks to goldenband for his speed correction advice. The values applied to this transfer ranged from -4.37 to +1.16% There is more surface noise on this LP than our recent Early Tours release but ClickRepair dealt with it well. You may notice that there is a brief dropout at 6.50 in ASOS that does not occur on Early Tours. Goldenband looked into this and Barrett's Revenge misses out about ~1.95s of audio, which before speed-correction would have been closer to 1.89s, and that's within ~0.1s of the revolution rate of a 33 RPM record (1.8s). It is therefore likely that there was a vinyl tracking error when the record was originally mastered at the pressing plant. Neonknight / Preclicktrack, December 2014 |
