Recorded at the Irvine Auditorium, Pennsylvania State University, Philadelphia, PA, USA. Good audience recording. From the info file: Pink Floyd 1971-11-12 Philadelphia Recorder 1, unknown gen, nipote_neonknight (24bit/96kHz) Pink Floyd Irvine Auditorium, Pennsylvania State University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Recorder 1 12 November 1971 Lineage: TDK D90 unknown gen cassette (1990-1995 type) > *Technics RS-B965-M > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Reaper v4.61 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) *The Technics RS-B965-M is a modified deck - for details see the Tapeheads.net forum xACT used to create FFP 01 Tuning 02 The Embryo 03 Fat Old Sun 04 Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun (cuts) 05 Echoes Total running time 68 mins 59 secs This is a fresh transfer of nipote’s tape that he has previously shared with the collecting community. No speed correction was required. Nipote’s cassette played back on my Technics sounds clearer and more detailed than other sources. This is not the best of recordings. I read that prior to enhancements, Irvine's cross-shaped design created great resonance for organ music but caused other sounds to 'fly' all over the room rather than be directed to the audience. There is regular analogue distortion, probably due to an inexperienced taper and basic recording equipment struggling with the conditions, and the sound is often quite distant with the exception of the louder passages.
