Do not sell this recording. Share freely, losslessly and gaplessly. comments: this would have probably been the primest of Supertramp breakfast auds except for two issues: 1: the taper arrived late for breakfast. (and about 5 songs) 2: the record levels were too high in the master recording. so there is some distortion, especially in the first several tracks. no idea what mikes made this but it was mastered on a Sony 152 cassette deck from a pretty good seat location. I've tried to compensate the best I can for the levels being over-recorded, it helped a little bit but an overmodulated master tape is always going to sound less than optimum. I haven't contacted the source of this tape in over 20 years and it has likely not been played since it was transferred to my 1st gen. copy of it. It is listenable enough to share, even though it's incomplete, missing about 25 min. this was a long show) and over-recorded on the master, since there isn't much for breakfast in America (something about that just doesn't sound right at all) and this was a very nice show. the 1st half hour is the worst sounding part, none of it sounds very good but it gets a little better toward the end of the show. Boston may not be quite on the Supertramp priority ladder as powerhouse Superhip cities like Milwaukee and Buffalo, they got on the bus a little later but they needed a fleet because alot hopped on. this show was sold out. Breakfast in America and the logical song are among the songs MIR (missing in recording), only the 2 biggest hits this group ever had. They had a bunch more. the BIA 79 album produced 5 huge hits helping this to be the album of the year in 1979 America (U.S.), and one of the most popular albums of the decade. for those who like the music, the concert did not disappoint at all. they sound very good in this show. If anyone has a better and/or more complete recording of this, or has the missing parts and wants to post a complete matrix-source post of this show that includes some of this one, they are welcome to. we all want the whole show and this is all I have of it. |
