The only change is a speed correction of -2.04% in Reaper using E´lastique 2.28 Pro. My thanks to goldenband for his trusty advice and the details that follow. For many years the only portion of the 1972-02-18 show that circulated was these three songs. Only in the late 1990s did copies of the complete show emerge, and most traders attributed these tapes to a single recorder. However, circulating tapes that contain the entire show invariably have a noticeable change in sound quality before ASOS. Meanwhile other, incomplete copies of the show cut off only a few minutes into ASOS, but don't have that change in sound. These are harder to find, but one example is Shamil's 2013 transfer labeled '1972-02-18c'. After careful research and listening, it appears that all tapes with the full show are actually composites of two recorders. That is, they contain DSOTM, OOTD, CWTAE, and Echoes from Recorder 2, and ASOS, Blues, and STC from this Recorder 1. The two recorders are fairly easy to distinguish, as Recorder 2 is somewhat overdriven and suffers from marked sibilance on 'S' sounds, while Recorder 1 is smoother. Assuming there isn't an uncirculated portion of Recorder 1, then the two recorders only overlap by about 4 minutes: that is, the ambience before ASOS and the first few minutes of the song, after which Recorder 2 cuts off. This is fortunate indeed, since it allows us to have the full show, and it's easy to understand why someone spliced the two recorders together without worrying about the 'extra' bit of ASOS from Recorder 2. If you compare the section before ASOS, the presence of two recorders is unmistakable. On Recorder 2, the crowd absolutely explodes when ASOS is announced, whereas the people around Recorder 1 are comparatively restrained. Furthermore, someone near the taper on Recorder 1 laughingly calls out for 'Roll Over Beethoven!', which is just barely audible as a distant shout on Recorder 2.
