Recorded at the Grugahalle, Essen, Germany. Great audience recording. From the info file: Pink Floyd 1969-10-11 Essen, Marbal low gen (24bit/96kHz) Pink Floyd Internationales Essener Pop and Blues Festival '69, Grugahalle, Essen, West Germany 11 October 1969 Lineage: Maxell UD II C60 chrome low gen cassette > *Technics RS-B965-M > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Reaper v4.61 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) *The Technics RS-B965-M is a modified deck - for details see the Tapeheads.net forum xACT used to create FFP 01 Introduction and tuneups 02 Astronomy Domine 03 Green Is The Colour 04 Careful With That Axe, Eugene 05 Interstellar Overdrive (cuts early) Total running time approximately 25 mins 39 secs Marbal received his tape in October 1985. It was recorded with Dolby B and I left it off for this transfer. The left channel of Marbal’s tape is significantly stronger and when I compensated for this in the transfer it pushed up the hiss levels significantly so I dropped the right. The recording is now clearer and has better high end. Dropping the weak channel also dealt with some dropouts. With thanks to goldenband for his advice, I additionally applied a speed correction of +4.13% and removed a tiny repeat from the middle of CWTAE. This shudder is also present on the DAT versions. The beginning of AD is a bit slower and the latter part of IO is a bit faster but it was not practical to change the speed mid-song. Marbal cassette / Neonknight tape transfer, March 2015 |
