Recorded at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris, France. Very good recording, taken from an AM radio broadcast. From the info file: Pink Floyd 1970-01-23 Paris Europe 1 AM broadcast, Recorder 1, complete source [24-96] Pink Floyd Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris Europe 1 live broadcast (AM bandwidth), Campus by Michel Lancelot, from 20:00-22:30hrs 23 January 1970 Lineage: TDK SA90 low gen cassette > *Technics RS-B965-M > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Reaper v4.61 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) *The Technics RS-B965-M is a modified deck - for details see the Tapeheads.net forum xACT used to create FFP 01 Green Is The Colour 02 Careful With That Axe, Eugene 03 The Violent Sequence 04 Biding My Time 05 The Amazing Pudding 06 Daybreak 07 Work 08 Doing It! 09 Sleeping 10 Main Theme from 'More' Total running time 63 mins 21 secs I obtained my cassettes from a very experienced French collector in 1996 and previously released a transfer of them with littlepieces. This transfer is subtly better - I find it to be more precise and less hissy. The songs are in the wrong order on my tape and I chose to leave them that way. This is a mono recording that was processed as two channel stereo. Eliminating the weaker channel wasn’t an option because it contains some high frequency content that the other channel does not. There is a high pitch whistle that is on all Recorder 1's for this date that starts near the end of CWTAE and continues until the end of TVS. Littlepieces was successful in mostly removing this signal for our joint release and I have left it alone for this raw version. My thanks to goldenband for providing me with speed correction advice, which led me to make corrections ranging from -8.42 to 1.75%. We changed the speed on some songs that littlepieces left alone. Back in January 2014 I released a short version of this recorder and talked about Europe 1’s archive and the contents of the master for this recording. Unfortunately, I have not been able to make any further progress with my research. Neonknight, March 2015 |
