Recorded at the Irvine Auditorium, Pennsylvania State University, Philadelphia, PA, USA. Very good audience recording. From the info file: Pink Floyd 1971-11-12 Philadelphia, Recorder 2, 5th gen (24bit/96kHz) Pink Floyd Irvine Auditorium, University of Pennsylvania 12 November 1971 Lineage: 5th gen Maxell XLII-S cassettes > Technics RS-B965-M > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Audacity 1.3 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) > Reaper v4.76 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) xACT used to create FFP 01 Atom Heart Mother 02 One Of These Days 03 Careful With That Axe, Eugene 04 Cymbaline Total running time 50 mins 27 secs A raw transfer of my 5th gen tape that I received from an experienced German collector in January 1996. This version is less complete than my Cass(3)>DAT(0) which I circulated in November 2014. There is a noticeable difference in tape artefacts between the two and this copy has a slightly punchier but rougher sound. The levels were probably too high on a tape in its lineage but it does give it a certain energy. Note how this copy does not have the reel slippage in the outro to Cymbaline that’s present on many other copies that do the rounds. Set The Controls is missing from my tape because it is a compilation of the two recorders. My old Revox B710 badly chewed a section of R1 several years ago, rendering it unplayable. I set the levels individually on my Saffire for AHM and OOTD. CWTAE and Cymbaline were too close to split so I recorded them together. After trimming, I used E´lastique 2.28 Pro to apply a global correction of -5.58%. My thanks to goldenband for his speed correction advice and encouragement in respect of this particular release.
