Recorded at the Sportpaleis Ahoy, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Great audience recording. From the info file: Pink Floyd 1971-04-03 (3rd April 1971) Sportpaleis Ahoy, Rotterdam, Netherlands Rec. 1 Stratcat58 Tapes 24-96 2 x TDK SA90 Transfer by Beechwoods Nakamichi ZX-7 > Tascam HD-P2 24/96 > WAV > FLAC 01. Astronomy Domine 02. Careful With That Axe, Eugene 03. Fat Old Sun 04. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun 05. Cymbaline 06. Embyro 07. A Saucerful Of Secrets 08. Atom Heart Mother This tape is a nice upgrade to the transfers of Recorder 1 circulating. Stratcat58's source was a well-known and highly regarded trader active in the 70's and 80's. Up to this point, the best transfer of this Recorder is Neonknight's 3rd Gen. Stratcat58's transfer appears to be lower gen, as is likely knowing the source, and has a clarity missing from both the '1st Gen' and the 'Band That Ate Asteroids For Breakfast' release. Both the 1st Gen and 'Asteroids' appear to have been 'remastered'. This is a raw transfer, but has very little that you'd want to 'master out'. Speedwise this is consistent with Neon's 3rd Gen, and sounds about right to my ears. I hope that you enjoy this new transfer of a familiar show. Beechwoods August 2015 |
