REMASTERING NOTES The original recorder did a fantastic job recording the concert. The mics used were incredible. They brought out the nuances in the music, ambience in the room, and did a wonderful job with crowd noise and clapping. So why bother reworking a great sounding recording. Experimentation and improving processing skills. The process for this rework was to create a frequency spectrum snapshot captured from a pro recorded Pink Floyd source and apply it to an audience recording. I have been experimenting with the process for over a year. Trying various settings in the software, capturing several sources, and determining which snapshot fits best to reshape the EQ of the audience recording. The eq matched file is then processed with parametric EQ to clean up the rough spots. The key during the entire process is to listen using professional studio monitors. I recently purchased a pair of JBL Professional studio monitors. Makes a big difference during the tweaking process. Tightened the Dynamics of the low end and some d'essing was applied. WORK FLOW Original WAV files from the recorder for set 1 and set 2 are loaded into Adobe Audition 2015 CC Original files are converted to 48000 hz 32 bit DC Offset was corrected for each file Sets 1 and 2 are volume matched to -21 LUFS Edited the files, added song markers, and song titles Created and saved several EQ snapshots from a few different Pink Floyd sources including 'hybrid' snapshots from 2 sources. For this project used a hybid EQ snapshot from The Wall Immersion Box Set with a Stevie Wonder blu ray 48000 24 bit concert soundtrack. (Also tried and compared Eq snapshots from The Endless River, David Gilmour Royal Albert Hall Blu Ray, Rattle That Lock Blu Ray audio, et.) Created and saved separate EQ snapshots for sets 1 and 2 Audition CC 2015.1 Effects Rack - set 1 and set 2 are processed separately Ozone 5 EQ matching plugin - Selected parameters for the EQ snapshot from the pro source to the audience recorded EQ snapshots Automatic Phase Correction - Auto Align Channels and Auto Center Panning Process and save Eq matched files Process parametric EQ where necessary - Audition 3, Audition 2015.1 CC, and Ozone 7 Automatic Click Remover, Audition 2015.1 - Heavy Reduction Preset - Process clapping spikes Applied fades **Ozone 7 Dynamisc plug in - Tightened the Dynamics of the low end and some d'essing applied** Increased volume to -18 LUFS Processed Dither, Ozone 7 MBIT + Dither - 24 bit, Medium Dither Amount, Higher Noise Shaping settings Converted files to 48000 hz 24 bit - Audition 2015.1 CC Exported the WAV audio within the markers Converted the WAV files to FLAC Notes from original taper: If you find this recording enjoyable please support the artists and buy their stuff at http://www.davidgilmour.com Nice show that I had the pleasure of attending with my nephew Nick who's living and working in London. Nice show indeed, quite loud as far as the second set is concerned. I did record with two mics: this one and the Church CA-11 (not sure if I will upload the other recording, if someone wants to attempt a matrix get in touch with me). The gentleman sitting next to us in our box (!) turned out an idiot at the end of the show trying to impress his wife with some impromptu-drumming on the backrest in front of us...but it's not too disturbing (at least in my ears). No mp3's from this upload, never, nowhere!!! Please don't alter the info file in case of uploads to other torrent sites. Give credit to all the tapers out there when uploading their work onto other trackers. Share the gift of music. Enjoy the music! RICK0725 12/18/2015 |
