Recorded at the Deutschlandhalle, Berlin, Germany. Very good audience recording. From the info file: Pink Floyd 1972-05-18 Berlin, Recorder 1, Marbal 2nd gen (24bit/96kHz) Pink Floyd Deutschlandhalle, Berlin, Germany 18 May 1972 Lineage: 2nd gen Maxell Epitaxial XLII 90 cassettes > *Technics RS-B965-M > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Reaper v4.61 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) *The Technics RS-B965-M is a modified deck - for details see the Tapeheads.net forum xACT used to create FFP 01 The Dark Side Of The Moon Second set 02 One Of These Days 03 Careful With That Axe, Eugene 04 Echoes Encore 05 Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun Total running time 1 hour 53 mins 10 secs Marbal received his cassettes in October 1987 and they were recorded with Dolby B. It is not definite that they are 2nd gen. The tapes were recorded very hot at times. C is louder than A and B which are a good match for one another. Echoes on the end of B cuts with the side of the tape completely running out. This is a fascinating recording. I think the taper struggled with his tape recorder but when things settle and the sound is at its best it has great atmosphere. It was a messy transfer to speed correct, with all kinds of speed slides and cuts. Goldenband identified seven different places where speed changes varying between +1.63 and +4.43% were required and one where no change was needed. Unfortunately the results are still imperfect, as the re-entry of U&T runs too fast for ~60 seconds before settling down to the correct speed.
