[greetings] [2:28] tot length: 151:04 notes: at last we have a recording for this date, that very rarely circulated before this the genuine recording of the second night in Roma 1988 as Gilmour confirms us after LTF I did index this portion separately as 'identifier'; there's a lady translating in Italian what Gilmour tells the crowd, her tranlslation is way approximate, if not totally invented, but makes us assume this is actually the second night in Roma: (lady) 'ha detto, allora ha detto che ieri sera è stato bello, ma stasera per la seconda volta è stato ancora più bello' 'he said, well, he said that last night it was nice but that tonight for the second time it's being even nicer' (guy) 'grazie' was definitely obvious it was at least a Roman date only listening to the recording anyway since it's full of audience comments in a clear Roman drawl this is a raw rip from cassette tape on unknown generation (probably low). sound quality can reach the VG, though there are imperfections and cuts: - there were some crackles (above all during the 1st set) here and there that can be a bit annoying (those are not digital inaccuracies, the noise is on the tape) ... that has been cleaned up with a very light filter, leaving the SQ unaltered! - little distortions maybe provoked by the taper moving the mic. - the cassette have Sorrow split in the 2 sides of tape 1, I did join the 2 portions together (the point of junction is evident since the track was split really roughly, it's at m. 5:22) - the taper stops the recorder at the beginning of OTTA provoking a gap that I did remove (soon after the girl says 'I will be right back'), for this reason the first part of OTTA is missing, the end is cut too unfortunately (I made it fade out a little) - The Great Gig In The Sky is cut at the end of side 2 of tape 1 (I made this fade out a little too) / side 1 of tape 3 starts with WYWH missing a bit of the beginning ... - same story for CN that's missing the last part, cut at the end of side 1 of tape 2 / side 2 of tape 2 starts from the very beginning of One slip. I dunno if these missing portions were actually recorded and just missing in this copy or if they were not recorded at all. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ original cassette provided by Mr. Pinky: tape1sideA: SOYCD >>> Sorrow (part1) tape1sideB: Sorrow (part2) >>> TGGITS tape2sideA: WYWH >>> CN tape1sideB: One Slip, RLH mastered by ygbc (March 2004) |
