When you hear words like 'This will be the show of the decade', and at a ticket price of only $19 including fees, it was too much for me to pass up. - The show was originally scheduled for a smaller venue, The Railway Club. However between the time tickets went on sale and the date of the show, the owners of that club decided to close their doors. This led to Heather's people having to scramble to find a new venue. Luckily they found a good one in The Biltmore! There was also a lot of confusion with ticketing as Brown Paper Tickets forced people to go through PayPal for refunds, rather than issuing refunds themselves (keep that in mind next time you buy tickets through them!). People then had to re-purchase tickets through the Biltmore's ticket agent. As a result, when David got inside when the doors opened, he was told only 65 tickets had been sold. There would have been at least a few guest listed people (Heather's cousin was there) and I expect they would have sold some tickets at the door, but still likely not more than 100 people in attendance. - The Biltmore usually has limited seating on the sides and by the soundboard, but because of the small crowd we were encouraged to move our tables onto the floor in front on the stage. This made for a terrific, intimate environment. We were at the second table from the stage, no more than 10 feet from Heather's mic. - Arnulf's good friend, saxophonist Klaus Bru, was in Vancouver for some upcoming shows, and sat in on 'Winter Blues'. This song was without doubt the highlight of the show. Mastering Notes: One downside of an intimate acoustic show is that every tiny noise is magnified in the recording. The crowd was incredibly well behaved, but there are unavoidable sounds of people shifting around (the metal stools were VERY uncomfortable), throat clearing, tinkling glasses, etc. There is a very low level hum from the sound system that is audible during the quiet moments between songs. Also, for some reason my left channel had numerous very brief (most no more than 1/3 of a second) bits of noise. Fixing each spot individually by copying the good right channel over the bad spots was an option, however I likely would have missed some noise and the resulting fixes are audibly noticeable. Instead I chose to copy the whole right track over the left and spatially enhance the file with a Waves plugin to create a truer stereo effect. Hopefully this won't detract from your enjoyment of this great show!
