Various low gens for this date do the rounds and they tend to sound quite different - closer, further, varying timbres (some less natural than others), suppressed by Dolby and so on. This recording has better high end, a more stable azimuth and is smoother than the other versions I have worked on over the past few years.

Unfortunately my source has lost tape two so Echoes and A Saucerful Of Secrets are missing. I expect the second tape would also have contained a complete CWTAE.

The recording levels were set very low at some point in the lineage so, like other copies currently available, there is quite a lot of hiss. Side B starts with OOTD and I turned down the Saffire's gain dials to avoid clipping.

It's disappointing that the recording is incomplete but this version is more pleasing to the ear than my other copies and demonstrates just how good a 1st gen could be if one were to surface and be transferred with decent equipment.
