Recorded at the O2 Arena, London, UK. Great multicam audience recording. Quality varies, but overall, it's a very good watch. The notes from here on were originally written back then ready for sharing but for one reason or another I never got round to unleashing this on the poor unsuspecting world ;) The notes have been updated a little. This set comprises various pieces of footage from Roger's O2 concert on May 19th 2008. I had collected all the various clips I found online and then decided to piece them together into a full length DVD. I prioritised using the best quality footage available for the main feature and then pieced together the lesser quality footage as bonus material. When this was compiled I was unaware of any other footage available and have since discovered that a full length DVD exists. However, this is a neat way of collecting all the various pieces of footage that appeared on Youtube and internet forums back in the day. Please do take into consideration though the fact that phone cameras were very much in their infancy by todays standards and, although I have used 720dpi footage at every opportunity, I did sometimes have to resort to using footage that was only 360dpi. The majority of the bonus footage is only 360dpi and is included for the completists, that said though there are still some pretty decent shots amongst those additional clips. Due to there being no footage (or very little footage) available for some of the tracks at the time this was compiled, I chose to find alternative ways to represent them rather than omit them. Here's what I had to do…. Southampton Dock & Fletcher Memorial Home No footage at all was available for these 2 songs so I used footage from an unknown concert where the screen was dominant. I cropped the video so only the screen was visible. Although the footage used here is not from the O2 (or maybe it is?), all the video included for these songs was also shown at the O2 and still makes up part of the show represented here. Leaving Beirut Again no footage available, however I did find some good video from another concert where the screen footage is very well represented. Due to the comic book style of the screen projections for the song I was able to screen capture the individual shots, tidy them up a bit and reconstruct the footage. However, the screen was not always perfectly in frame and on a small number of occasions one of the edges might be slightly missing. This has turned out pretty good though…for a first attempt ;) There are a couple of moments where its running as film as the camera was a bit wobbly and it would have taken a long time and a lot of work to match the frames up. Sheep This is almost completely from the show on the 19th. Unfortunately though there was no footage available for the first 17 seconds of the song so I used a shot of the screen from the previous night, also at the O2. Also there was no footage available for the last 7 seconds of the song and Roger's 'take a break' announcement which follows it. But, due to the pig being a popular feature to film I had an extra piece of footage of the pig recorded on the 19th from an alternative source which, luckily, was just long enough to cover the missing part of Sheep and Roger's speech. As the pig was still out above the audience at this point (although not illuminated after the songs end) it seemed appropriate to use this additional footage of the concert rather than patch in from a different show. Speak To Me Once again no footage available but I did have some footage purely of the screen film. As with Southampton Dock etc this is what was shown at the O2 show so still represents that concert. Breathe A small part of Breathe is just screen film from an unknown alternative show. Us And Them Only 1 minute 35 Seconds of footage was available for Us And Them so I had to get creative! I did a bit of a cheat using some screen projection film but I thought this was getting a bit boring. When I started collecting this footage someone shared a slideshow of their photographs of the concert which also included a handful of very short video clips. With so little footage available for Us And Them I admitted defeat and included the slideshow here to make up the final 3 minutes 32 seconds of the song. My other options were edit the song down (no way!) or use footage from a different concert. Any Colour You Like Again absolutely no footage at all. This is the screen projection lifted straight from the concert in Argentina. It was shown at the O2 so fits here as well. Vera The first 45 seconds of Vera come from a show in Hartford 2007, although you wouldn't know if I hadn't told you ;) So there you have it, enjoy! Stu (surrogatestuart) (simpledumbpilot) |
