Pink Floyd 1971-10-28 Ann Arbor, 2nd gen stratcat58 tapes (24bit/96kHz) Pink Floyd Hill Auditorium, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA 28 October 1971 Lineage: 2nd gen Maxell XLII C90 and C60 cassettes (1985/6) > Technics RS-B565 > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Reaper v4.76 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) xACT used to create FFP 01 The Embryo 02 Fat Old Sun 03 Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun 04 Atom Heart Mother 05 One Of These Days 06 Careful With That Axe Eugene 07 Cymbaline 08 Echoes Encore 09 Blues Total running time: 2 hours 16 minutes 42 seconds This is a raw transfer and it would benefit from speed correction. The cassettes have a high pitch ringing noise not on other sources that for the most part can't be heard. I don't think it spoils the listening experience and it could probably be easily filtered out. Each side was transferred at the same level, then I trimmed dead air and put the songs in the correct order. The tracks were arranged to neatly fit onto 90 and 60 minute tape: 90 min side A 1-3, B 4-6, then 60 min C 8, D 7 and 9. The recording is plagued with tape anomalies but there are occasional sublime moments like the middle section of OOTD and the water bubbling outro to OOTD / intro to CWTAE. I have track marked the bubbles as the intro to CWTAE. Yeeshkul member pinkpot wrote on the forum in 2008: 'Default water sound. A buddy of mine recorded this and the Detroit 72 show, the water sound is a projection on the stairs of the balcony to make it look like running water. So it was part of the performance.' Stratcat58's source got his cassettes from the taper. You may have a copy of KingOfCats' Nakamichi Dragon 2nd gen transfer to DAT. Stratcat and KingOfCats obtained their tapes from the same trader.
