Pink Floyd 1975 Breakthrough, BBC Radio London, careful53 low gen (24bit/96kHz) Pink Floyd Breakthrough, BBC Radio London, 1975 Lineage: Low gen TDK SA90 cassette (1983) > Technics RS-B565 > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Reaper v4.76 & iZotope RX 4 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) xACT used to create FFP Scream Thy Last Scream and Vegetable Man with introductions Total running time 8 mins 53 secs The 1975 radio premieres of Scream Thy Last Scream and Vegetable Man on BBC Radio London's Friday evening rock programme, Breakthrough. The show was presented by Mike Sparrow and you can hear his voice trembling with excitement as he introduces the songs. Careful 53 received his copy from Steve B whose copy was on 7 ½ p.s. reel to reel . It sounds considerably better than the minidisc version I released in June 2012, which has the advantage of including an interview with Peter Jenner from a previous programme. The right channel is stronger on careful53's tape and I compensated for this by adjusting the gain on the Saffire. I then used iZotope to match the channels and align the azimuth. To finish I added 2.52dB in Reaper before exporting as a single file. Careful53 cassette / Neonknight tape transfer, January 2017 |
