Good sign for the band for future gigs in Glasgow, though for those of us who like the smaller venues, perhaps the end of an era? If this continues, I guess it will be the SECC for them... A great performance from the band for both sets. The venue has a club night starting at 11, so everything was running really early and I guess a lot of people not only missed the support band - North Atlantic Oscillation (me included - despite getting there early - the queue was another wait) - but also part, or all of The Incident. PT came on about 7:45-ish! The crowd were reasonably reserved during The Incident. Not sure if it was down to people still to get in, or if they were just unsure where to applaud. Before they played Normal, someone at the front shouted out 'Freebird', so Steven wondered out loud how funny it would be if they had launched into a note-perfect version, but in the end, opted for Normal. Recording notes and sound quality: Bit of a panic this one,as my previous recording from earlier in the week had been ruined by what I guess now was a loose cable. However, this turned out fine - just as well! Obviously with the paranoia about being noticed taping, I never checked the levels once. As such the volume had to be boosted quite a bit and a very small bit of eq tweaking to even out the bass. Though there were a few people more interested in talking than paying attention, this has turned out to be quite a decent recording of the show with a crowd who were up for it. There was a 10 minute interval between sets, which was counted down on the screen. I have not included this here, not least due to the corwd talking, etc. Though there is a lengthy band intro and a thank you to the tour crew in the middle of Trains (when they showed photos of Wes, Richard, and Colin on the big screen), I have not separated this out. I think they should have done all that inbetween Muzak and Trains instead, as the flow of Trains was ruined. band links http://www.porcupinetree.com http://www.myspace.com/porcupinetree venue link http://www.o2abcglasgow.co.uk/ Please support the band by buying their albums, merch, and by going to see them live. They deserve your cash. Do NOT sell this recording, trade FREELY! No art, make you own. Enjoy! |
