Notes |
Recorded at the Auditorium Theater, Chicago, Illinois. Very nice audience recording, except for the last half hour. The tape seems to have some speed problems... From the info file: Pink Floyd: Echoes in the Auditorium Catalog: Hip Cat Sources: October 27, 1971 (Auditorium Theatre, Chicago, IL) Quality: VG+ Disc (73:31) 1. The Embryo (12:38) 2. Tune Ups (1:39) 3. Fat Old Sun (14:41) 4. Set the Controls (14:15) 5. Atom Heart Mother(17:45) 6. Tune Ups (2:57) 7. One of these Days (9:36) Disc 2 (63:40; after speed corrections 67:19) 1. Tune Ups (1:29) 2. Careful with that Axe, Eugene(10:52) 3. Cymbaline (11:39) 4. Echoes (24:52) 5. A Saucerful of Secrets (14:48) Comments: Very low gen audience tape of an excellent complete show. Very little hiss, however, some tape speed fluctuations are a little distracting. CwtAE is standard performance from this time frame. Cymbaline is excellent with very clear 'footsteps' tape effects. Echoes is a good version, with Gilmour doing great jamming and Mason's cymbal work top-notch, unfortunately it appears somewhat fast. Overall, a very good release with some excellent performances. With the exception of the tape speed fluctuations this might rate an Excellent. Note: I have corrected substantially most of the tape speed problems. There are still a few 'warbles' but for the most part it sounds really nice. |
