Recorded at the Montreal Forum, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Audience recording, taken from two sources: SQ from the first (discs 1 & 2) is very good, the second source sounds not as good but has an interesting (and complete!) WLL (...and R&R and organ solo and TY) ;) From the info files: Led Zeppelin 1972.06.07 Montreal Forum, Montreal, Quebec, Canada Track List: Disc One 01. Immigrant Song 02. Heartbreaker 03. IMPORTANT NOTE Again, I will try and clear the air on the correct lineage of Montreal 72. My father taped the superior source that cuts out in Whole Lotta Love. There is NO reel master. The reels were transferred to a first gen reel and then the masters were lost/erased....fact of the matter is they have not existed in years. Any version of this source have sourced from a second generation cassette copy backup of the first gen reel. Second gen cassettes were lent in the late 90's to a few collectors that transferred them to DAT. Lineage can only be A2>DAT>CDR. Anything else is WRONG. Master Reel (lost)>1st generation back up reel>2nd generation analog back up>DAT>CDR I have the first gen reel and no digital transfer has ever been made from it. Immigrant Song and the first part of Heartbreaker was accidentally erased from the 1st gen reel years ago and only survived on a second generation back up reel that was made. Analog copies were made from the 2nd gen back up reel in the late 90's so Immigrant Song is technically, at best a 3rd generation. The inferior source with more complete WLL and encores surfaced around 1998. Best lineage you can get on this is an A1 analog cassette if you got it direct from the source. A1>DAT>CDR is possible. bcledfoot |
