Despite Steven saying that he can relax a little more now that his parents arent here (contrary to the show earlier this year) I found that was not entirely the case. They played extraordinairily and of course the amazing setlist helped. The audience itself was also a bit reserved. Maybe thats the british audience (after all it was my first time there) but the reception was more polite than enthusiastic. Highlights were Waiting, Annie's Thighs, The Sky Moves Sideways and Trains. The stage in the Forum is pretty big and very wide. Because of that you could hear the stereo mix really well and this reflects on the recording. Gavin's drums were rumbling from left to right and back again. The sound was good, some reverb from the venue can be heard which makes the vocals a little distant at times. The drum toms are very up front in the mix. Some talking/screaming but it is minimal and mostly during songs fortunately. All in all a very good recording. Matrix notes: I used duncan's stack recording to apply some much needed vocals and guitar presence to my own recording. There is a lot more clarity in this recording, much more detail without loosing the stereo image or the venue acoustics. The mix sounds fantastic, wide open yet never distant. Everything is where it should be in the mix. The ratio is around 60:40. This is my first job at a matrix mix so be gentle but honest ;) Enjoy this excellent show! |
