Recorded at the Amsterdam Free Concert, Amsterdamse Bos, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Very good audience recording. The track on disc 2 is recorded at the Ernst-Merck Halle, Hamburg, Germany, at 14 November 1970. Great recording (just a little hissy). From the info file: Amsterdam Free Concert Amsterdamse Bos Amsterdam, Netherlands June 26th 1971 from Pinkrabbit1's tape Revised version of the Original seed at Tapecity.org Source: Audience (recorder 1) Lineage: cass[low] > SoundBlaster > WAV > FLAC > WAV > Soundforge 8 (reindex, remove repeated portions) > Audition 1.5 (speed correction) > Cdwave (track split) > FLAC (level 5) Disc 1 (59:13m) 1. CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE, EUGENE (11:19m) 2. CYMBALINE (8:50m) 3. THE EMBRYO (8:51m) 4. SET THE CONTROLS (11:38m) 5. silence/applause (0:06m) 6. A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS (18:29m) Disc 2 (26:56m) 1. CORROSION / THE EMBRYO (26:56m) Ah, pretty nice version... i must say that this was transferred too loud, and the sound tends to clip pretty easily but it sounds really nice and better compared to the 1st generation i have for this recorder. It has less tunings and audience chatter, but here the brightness and the powerful sound is pretty nice. As i said on the beginning i couldnt do nothing about the clipping, but i lowered the volumes a bit, removed the repeated applauses and speed corrected STC & ASOS which ran fast on the original transfer. I didnt edited the silences/cuts native to this tape i left them as they were, only removed the repeated portions. Pinkrabbit1 didnt know about the generation of this, sounds as a 3rd/4th max. The Corrosion/Embryo is from 1970-11-14, and it sounds GREAT compared to the T source... Would be nice if a complete source of this version exists. Again as 1971-6-26 this sounds as a 3rd/4th generation at max, listen for yourself. I also ran a tiny speed correction on this track cos it ran slightly fast. Overall the sound to me is an EX, both recordings sounds pretty well defined, there are some tape turbulences of course, hiss, crackles, and some stuff, but you know the usual. Anyway everyone have their own ratings. If you can stand the hiss it's an EX. You can get the original version from the Tapecity.org tracker. Thanks a lot pinkrabbit1 for sharing this gem with us. cheers gbc ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL COMMENTS FROM ORIGINAL SEED: PINK FLOYD LIVE FREE CONCERT OLYMPIA STADIUM 6/26/71 AND HANOVER GERMANY 7/70 I GOT ALL EXCITED WHEN I SAW MENTION OF WATERSGATE AND SAID TO MYSELF HEY I HAVE THAT TAPE SO I PUT IT ON AND WAS TAKEN BACK BY HOW IT SOUNDS, AFTER THAT I SORT OF EXPECTED THIS TO SOUND LIKE THAT AS WELL BUT MAN THIS THING SOUNDS GREAT, CLEAR AND LOUD I HAVE TO TELL YOU I HAVEN'T HEARD THESE THINGS IN ALMOST TWENTY YEARS AND IT'S ALWAYS AN ADVENTURE WHEN I PUT ONE ON, I MAY HAVE GOTTEN THIS ONE AND NEVER LISTENED TO IT TILL TODAY BECAUSE I DON'T REMEMBER IT AT ALL, NOW HERE IS MY PROBLEM WITH IT I DON'T KNOW WHICH SONGS COME FROM WHAT SET SO I HAVE JUST RECORDED THE CASSETTE AS IS AND NUMBERED THE SONGS PLAYED AS THEY PLAYED ON THE TAPE I WOULD GUESS WE ARE LISTENING TO 6/26/71 FIRST ON SIDE ONE HERE I THINK THAT AFTER SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS ON SIDE TWO WHERE INTO GERMANY 7/70 FROM TDK-D90 TO SOUNDBLASTER TO FLAC I DON'T KNOW WHAT GENERATION OR ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT I HAVE THE TAPE HERE SIDE 1 1-CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE EUGENE 2-CYMBALINE 3-EMBRYO (WITH GROVING WITH A PICK AXE IN IT) 4-SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN SIDE 2 1-SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS (SMOKING VERSION) 2-?MAIN THEME?
