Having seen him in Phoenix and Los Angeles a few months prior, I was quite happy to catch him in the hometown (thanks to the other tapers who recorded these other shows so I can enjoy them anytime)! I went with a bunch of friends and everybody came away thoroughly impressed...'best concert I have ever been to' was a frequent comment from all. Got most of the show from a fairly generous 13+ minutes of preshow music to pretty much the end. Missed 'Speak To Me' and part of 'Breathe' as RW lied about the 15 minute break; more like 12, so what can one do when there is a lineup for the washroom? Oh well...damn Canadian beer. Stopped taping somewhere into 'Brain Damage' and hence the rest of the show is not presented here. A variety of reasons for this, mostly due to overzealous venue personnel and the innate desire to DELETE whatever they can. [Rant: Apparently it is just fine to record the show with a handheld camcorder considering I counted at least three around me within striking distance...] (Now glossing over the gory details)...a bit of CSI-style forensic work on my SD card and the digital data has once again risen from the infinite bit-bucket. Take that! Anyways...here it is for all to enjoy. It sounds pretty decent IMHO, and makes for a good couple of hours despite the missing sections. Not too much had to be cleaned up in my source, other than adding a few graceful fade-ins and outs where I could not record, due to issues cited above. Tracklist: 01. Preshow Music 02. In The Flesh (Part 1) 03. Mother 04. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun 05. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1-5) 06. Have A Cigar 07. Wish You Were Here 08. Southampton Dock 09. All my friends across the world who I chat with who continue to keep the Floyd spirit alive! All the people that make YEESHKUL!, PINKROIOSHN, and IFWT possible...so we can enjoy these recordings. Legal Notes: None really, just don't *EVER* convert to any lossy format and distribute wildly. Convert so you can listen on your portable music player of choice if needed, but only spread the original FLAC files to others who want the show. I have spent far too much time trying to root out MP3 garbage from my collection so let's all play nice, ok? I also do not really care if you need to toy with the files in any way, but again, for your own personal use only and not to be released into the wild. A Last Rant: Some have accused RW of lip-synching in his shows. Fairly easy to prove now that we all have copies of pretty much every show, but who cares? He could play the pan flute and I would gladly see him and the band do their thing. He has nothing to prove in my mind 8-)... A Plea: If *anybody* is sitting on the Pink Floyd show at Commonwealth Stadium here in Edmonton (June 28, 1994), then please release it! Alas, I went but did not record it... Also...there has to be sources for Roger's June 23, 2007 show in Calgary and June 27, 2007 show in Winnipeg. In fact, all sources should be released...no hoarding! Liberate all shows! (Whew!) *That's it!...Enjoy!* - TDD, March 2008 |
