The Enemy Smacks - 14'48' I created and shared these files some 5 years ago as part of a 32 show IQ series from the early 80's and on noticing how poor my share ratio on Dime had become decided to put some of these up on Dime in the hope that it might make a difference! :-) I'm sure lots of people may have these already but you never know! I've searched the dead torrents and can't see that they have been on Dime before - apologies to the moderators if that's not the case. I attach below the original comments I made at the time. Some art was created for this series after it was launched and I've added it. This was created when 74 min CDR's were much more prevalent and I guess today most people would now just put this on a CDR-80 if burning. I've decided to leave it as it was though, not least coz it matches the artwork :-) Captain Ransid - August 09 Comments This is a direct transfer from a 21 year old first generation recording on a good old TDK D90. Noise reduction was used in the intial recording but, given the quality of the tape, there is still some tape hiss, but not much. The transfer was from tape deck (Aiwa AD-F800) to Audio CD recorder, then EAC to WAV to NERO 6.0 to FLAC. This is a somewhat muffled audience recording which I'd rate as B. In between track comments by Pete are a bit quiet and there is a lot of audience chatter and glasses clinking etc throughout, but it's not too distracting (I hope!). IQ were keen to return to Bristol and play the larger venue 'The Granary' and there were a number of travelling fans attending (which came as a bit of a surprise for the band) making for a good crowd. The embyonic 'The Wake' had developed into a form that was similar to the forthcoming recorded version although it was still to be titled at this time. A fairly standard set of the time (this running order became something of a staple). The tape sadly misses the encore - the name of which escapes my fading brain cells at the time of typing.
