Notes |
Recorded at the Rice University Stadium, Houston, TX, USA. Great audience recording, but the SQ becomes worse during 'Time', probably because of the bad weather. Run Like Hell Length: 103:50 Notes: Division Bell tour show. Recording is mostly complete missing only the opener Astronomy Domine in full, the recording joins the show in progress during Learning To Fly. It is good recording up until it starts raining and from that point the sound quality gradually declines as the rain increases until it is basically unlistenable towards the end. The band also cut the show short due to the rain and dropped songs like Great Gig In The Sky to fit in the more popular songs as long as the weather permitted. Considering the weather ending with Run Like Hell (no matter how unintentional) seems oddly fitting considering the circumstances. Sean's notes: Floyd was touring the Division Bell and they had this date at Rice Stadium. I had seen the previous tour in Austin and i was okay. So a group of us decided to do the park and ride to the stadium. As far as I knew, it was going to be a pleasant evening. We get to our seats, the show starts, I've got the deck rolling, things are good. Then, the wind begins to pick up a little. Then way in the background - listen for it - there are little rumbles of thunder. Within about an hour we're all out standing in an open air stadium in the middle of a RAGING storm. The stage - awesome metal frame with plastic and what not all over it, you know the perfect shelter in the middle of a thunder storm (that is, aside from standing in the middle of a open field. Thats Best Option #2) - begins to shred and dumps an absolute waterfall onto the stage. Gilmours amp has blown and the keyboards just blow over. At this point the recording has gone from excellent to fair/poor. I havent moved. My deck is absolutely soaked. If it was going to be toast, then it was goin to be toast. I was going to capture every bit of this that I could. At that point Gilmour announces that the show is over. The recording captures my full experience. You hear everything as it begins to occur. You can hear the wind pick up. You can hear the thunder roll in. You can hear the single droplets as they begin to fall and you get to hear the full raging storm. It's something else. Check it out. Previously uncirculated. My thanks to Weedwacker for the transfer/preservation. |
