Total running time: 2 hours 24 mins 30 secs (includes some minor duplication - see notes below)

A really enjoyable, raw high resolution transfer of these stereo tapes of the last night of the first leg of the band's 1975 North American tour. The original recording was made by Ron C on cassette. Judging by the hiss levels and other information known about Kbrubaker's tapes, it's likely that they are 2nd or 3rd gen.

Back in 2009 Grolsch said that he thought that the master probably still existed. If it does it would certainly be amongst the best recordings from 1975. At the time the Yeeshkul community was discussing a DAT version uploaded by Deep Creatures. This copy, speculated to be 1st gen, starts earlier than Kbrubaker's tapes but does not sound as good. For some additional details see http://www.yeeshkul.com/forum/showthread.php?16463-Pink-Floyd-1975-04-27-Los-Angeles-CA-master

The music is spread over four sides on Kbrubaker's tapes. Side A lasts 11 mins 47 secs and contains just Raving and Drooling. There is a slight repeat of the audience noises and a couple of tuning notes on Rick's keyboard on Side B, followed by songs 2-5. I kept the levels in the same position on the Saffire for tracks 1-5 and left the duplication intact so anybody doing a remaster can choose where to splice and join. There is a small gap to show where Side A ends.

Side A and B were recorded louder on Kbrubaker's tapes than the second set, which fills C and D. This could be because somewhere in the lineage a trader was trying to compensate for the plane crash explosion during On The Run. There is some DSOTM heartbeat duplication at the beginning of Side C that is quieter than the same material at the end of Side B, which demonstrates the difference. Once again I left the heartbeat sound at the end of SOYCD, so anybody looking at this recording at a later date can decide what to do with it.

At first I tried recording at the same level for all four sides but discovered that this would mean that listeners would have to turn the volume up on their player when DSOTM commences, such was the reduction in the output levels on the cassette. Recording at a higher level for sides C and D means that the wave momentarily clips during the explosion. This seemed a reasonable trade off in terms of achieving the best overall sound quality.

The Dark Side Of The Moon is spread across sides C and D and the small gap at 47 mins 03 secs marks where I flipped the tape. I believe there is some duplication with this flip as well but haven't looked into it before uploading. Echoes ends side D.
