Bernard White will be remembered by many as 'the first Syd fan'. It was Bernard who was instrumental in setting up the first Syd Barrett fanzine, 'Terrapin', in the early 70's. Bernard had been part of the scene for years, and collected a good deal of unofficial and unreleased material well before these things started to circulate on bootleg vinyl or CD (bootlegs which ironically were often sourced from nth gen tapes of copies he'd done for friends he'd met over the years).
His collection mainly focussed on Syd, solo and with the Floyd. This particular recording however is from one of his few non-Syd items, a 2nd Gen Reel of the Royal Albert Hall 26th July 1969 show.
Quality-wise it is very similar to the circulating '1st Gen' Cassette, which we suspect is from the same source. This is a raw transfer to DAT that complements rather than competes with the circulating copy.
FLAC encoded at DAT native sample resolution of 48Khz.
