Notes:
Well here is a tasty little treat! I recently found this tape in the basement (in a box of tapes, natch!) while searching for a different show. I knew this tape was pretty close to the master so I thought I would dust it off literally and give it a listen. I also tracked down the recorder 1 source to this show (many thanks to pottel!) to compare the two. What I found was pretty cool to say the least. This is definitely a different source than recorder 1. I'd say the sound here is better than the other source. It seems the taper of my tape had a better recording spot as the instruments are much clearer on this tape. I'd say it was a substantial upgrade to the recorder 1 source. Your mileage may vary. Side 2 of the cassette tape has some issues, including some volume fluctuations (one channel only), lower overall levels and a few tiny dropouts. Side 2 of the tape encompasses from 'Another Brick...' onwards. That being said, this is a very nice recording overall, especially the side one material. Very clean balanced recording, all instruments clear and defined and the vocals on top of everything. Very listenable indeed, as a matter of fact I listened to it twice today! I received this tape from my friend Mike who attended the show and got his copy from the taper. I can't remember whether Mike gave me his 1st gen copy or if I dubbed mine from his, still this source can be no worse than a second gen. I think it represents a pretty clear upgrade to what is out there already namely the recorder 1 source that pottel torrented here at HC a while ago. That source is muffled and distant with talking throughout, this source is clear and has very little talking. As a side note, recorder 1 has about a minute more of 'Money' than my tape does. My tape has a bit more of the 'Another Brick..' intro. This source has never been traded or torrented by me before. I just transferred my 20+ year old cassette today. I wonder whether this was all that was recorded, or is the taper sitting on Set One somewhere? I vaguely remember (and I might be making this up) my friend Mike telling me that this was all there was. We can dream right? PS I did quite a bit of research on this show and never found any reference to a second source. However I am a bit of an idiot. If this is some well-known source that I just didn't stumble upon anywhere, my apologies. Please refer to the idiot comment. I'd love to hear from the Floyd experts (and by no means am I one of those) regarding this source if they have any info. Please don't kill me for tracking Time and On The Run as one track, it was late!! Lastly, enjoy this tape! I did...
