Possibly directly because of this, What Happens Now? was the only Nil Recurring track that was played. The show was originally planned to happen at House Of Culture which is another venue in Helsinki that fits roughly 1800 people, but due to extremely high demand it was changed to Icehall which normally fits roughly 8000. However Wilson wanted the show to have somewhat more intimate setting and only about 3500 tickets were put on sale for the show and the stage was moved closer to the center of the venue. Needless to say, the show was sold out in an hour after the new tickets came on sale. The opening act was a Finnish psychedelic and instrumental prog rock band Hidria Spacefolk, which was also taped. It looked like Gavin was having a bit off night however, he seemed pissed off at times and even broke one of the cymbals during the show. Despite this his performance was still top notch Recording notes: Recorded right in front of the soundboard, leaning against the fence. I suppose I could say that I was lucky in that I had practically no one right in front of me blocking the sound or causing phasing by moving in front of me. On the left of me (audible on the right channel mostly because of the way the clips are on my mics) there was one guy whos clapping is pretty loud at times, most notably during the beginning of Trains, and that had to be dampened down a bit by hard limiting it to level closer to the music. Apart from this, nothing else was done to it, not even equalization simply because it sounded so damn good as it were and I didn't want to ruin it. Generally I don't want to give any grades for my own recordings, but I believe it's fairly safe to say that this does belong amongst the best recordings of the tour. As a sidenote, this was also the 50th show that I recorded, and the first Porcupine Tree show I ever saw. Definitely wont be the last one. The title is simply because I have reasons to believe there was at least two other tapers, this was the second last show, so that was the 'inspiration' for it. Considered 'Fear Of Those Damn Pills' as a title but thought it'd be too cheesy title. - Borlag on December 16th 2007 |
