Notes: The French 1974 tour featured the debut of Shine On (with the two halves played as one, as on the British 1974 tour) and Raving And Drooling (aka Sheep). Using In The Flesh as a guide, this show appears to be the fourth performance of the two songs. The Colmar show appears to have been the last performance of Careful With That Axe, Eugene, until the one-off performance on May 9, 1977. The French tour was the first time Floyd used their circular screen.

The producer of the disc mentioned to me that some of the lyrics and guitar parts of Shine On and Raving And Drooling different from the British 1974 performances. Overall, the British 1974 performances of these two songs are more similar to the 1975 performances than they are to the French 1974 ones.

The band did a short series of concerts in France a few months before an ambitious U.K. tour, previewing two new numbers. 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' has a few different lyrics in the early going and is played as one complete piece-the 1974 versions have a harder edge to them and are much less refined than the studio track, but the basic sections of the song are there and it's still comparable to the finished product, evolving much in the same way as 'Atom Heart Mother'. Nevertheless, the ending is still far from the final arrangement and this version has a rather anti-climactic conclusion. 'Raving and Drooling' is the precursor to 'Sheep' and very primitive in 1974-75, featuring almost discordant keyboard playing in the beginning and a different drum pattern-the lyrics are also different and hardly resemble 'Sheep' at all, and this early version includes some strange, moaning vocals in the background. 'Echoes' is again played before Dark Side of the Moon and isn't quite as melodic as in previous years, although Gilmour does a nice variation on his usual solo here. The encore, 'Careful With That Axe, Eugene', is unfortunately missing, as it was dropped after this show after being a staple in their act since 1968.
