From the info file: Some gathered info: --- dalystonjohn : Pink Floyd - 1971 GTK Sydney Australia Rebroadcast ok, i am having another shot at this, hopefully with better results than last time. This is a rebroadcast of the GTK (Get To Know) show from 1971. I t was rebroadcast on 19th January 2008 (not 2007 as i wrote on my last attempt) on ABC in Australia, which i recorded via a standard definition digital decoder plugged into a winfast pro tv card. Sound and Video quality are a vast improvement on what was being circulated previously. Hope it works this time! --- dalystonjohn : this is about as much as i know, first broadcast in 1971 by GTK (Get to Know) on ABC TV in Australia, it has been repeated in parts at times, often Careful with that Axe, Eugene on its own, the last time to my knowledge was the weekend after Syd's death, they plyed both songs but no interview. Quite often around Christmas time the programmers of RAGE revert to playing old repeat episodes of music show no longer in production, this year was no exception and they replayed a lot of GTK episodes, this one included. This rebroadcast does have the RAGE logo come up in the bottom left of screen briefly, but its not to annoying... 1. Careful with that axe, Eugene (video filmed live at the Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, Australia 15th August 1971 and audio was dubbed in from the version on UmmaGumma, not by me, but by the original broadcaster) 2min22sec 2. Interview with Pink Floyd (interviewer stays out of sight) 4min02sec 3. Set the controls for the heart of the sun (filmed on location in a desert or sand dunes) 2min23sec total running time 8min47sec --- moonwall : Thank you! This is really an upgrade! I saved some comments when downloading this the first time, don't remember where or when though : Dallasman: I don`t see anyone else commenting on this, but I think it should be pointed ou that the audio on the two live clips is dubbed on from 'Ummagumma' and 'A Saucerful Of Secrets' respectively. mev70: The reason why is that the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) was allowed to either record video or audio material of the Sydney Randwick Racecourse concert. They chose the visuals, thus added the audio from the live Ummagumma LP. Also, it is the complete broadcast. The GTK (Get To Know) program was only ever about 10 minutes long, and featured a different band for every programme. The interview segment is one of the very few times the 4 members of the band were interviewed together. --- |
