SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN

This was transferred from a DAT tape using ProTools to create a stereo wave file (48kHz 24 Bit) even though the stereo seems to have been 'faked'. No remastering was done to this recording. I split this into individual tracks with the exception of Green and Careful which are combined into one file. I am still unsure about the lineage and source at this time as this recording may have originated from a VPro or FM source. I feel that it is HIGHLY unlikely that this came from a WNEW FM broadcast. The reason that this possible source was under consideration was because this recording was on a tape which also included the 1974 BBC Wembley broadcast recorded off WNEW FM, NY. I don not feel that there is any relation between the two. Also note that this recording also contains the elusive 'Here Comes Santa' bit which precedes, and crossfades into Grantchester Meadows. I have my doubts that this bit was even part of the original recording and believe that it was edited in at one point in time. There is a low hum present in all other tracks that it not audible during 'HCS'. Please note that 'HCS' also exists as a BBC recording (aka. 'Merry X-Mas Song') with, from what I understand, has Nick Mason helming the vocals and is often labeled as being recorded in December 1975. The name Alan is also referred to during this recording and perhaps this could be Alan Parsons, the engineer at the time. An MP3 of this can be heard here:

This recording is very similar in quality to my recent transfer from a 3/4' U-Matic tape that was shared here:

This recording contains a lot of static and crackles and MOB feels that the previous torrent is perhaps better quality from a dynamic standpoint. He will ultimately be deciding which will be used as the main audio source for the KQED Harvested DVD upgrade.

Please note that these files will not play if burned to an audio CD.

I've decided to go with April 30th as the date based on the following info:
'The rumor that this show is from 4/30 and not 4/29 may have been started by me a couple of years ago. ....and I do believe it's true that this was recorded on the morning or afternoon of the 30th. I located the actual contract between the band and the Public Broadcasting System for the rights to this video which was signed by Steve O'Rourke and it dates the recording as having taken place on April 30th.' Thanks to Shamil for the DAT!
