Taper notes

I present to all Floyd fans my recording of Roger Waters' first ever performance in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was a sold-out performance on a Saturday night, and the atmosphere was festive and upbeat. The show went off very well. I recorded from Section 301, the lower part of the upper balcony toward the back of the venue. So the sound is a bit echoey.

I recorded both sets of the show direct to WAV using a Tascam DR-05 sound recorder with its built-in stereo mics. I just bought the recorder so I was a bit unfamiliar with it. So at the beginning of the show, the levels are too high. But I saw the problem and brought the levels down to normal about 45 seconds into In the Flesh? So don't be discouraged by the distortion at the very beginning of the recording, it gets better! Overall the recording is pretty decent, with a minimum of crowd noise/talking.

I saw this show in St. Louis in Fall 2010, and there were a few noticable changes to the show. The most obvious of course is the addition of Another Brick Part 4, or whatever it's being called. It's a short new acoustic version of the track, added on to the very end of Part 2. Also the visuals have been enhanced throughout the show, which was very nice. One really cool part was during Nobody Home, they projected a live closeup of Roger singing in the living room set on the wall opposite his location. That was nice for those of us further back who couldn't see him as well. And then they added several pre-recorded visuals featuring Roger, mostly in the 2nd set. One memorable one shows him in closeup in military uniform as he machine guns the audience at the end of In the Flesh. I'd say overall musically the St. Louis show was superior, but this show in Tulsa featured a better version of Comfortably Numb. It was a stunning performance of the song, actually!

Anyway hope you all enjoy the show, and I welcome any comments.
