From the info file:

Roger Waters
Madison Square Garden
New York City
August 26, 1987

Format: DVD (NTSC/Dolby Digital Stereo)
Lineage: 8mm master > DVCAM > AVI > Vegas (MPEG-2/AC3) > DVD

pinkrabbit1 sent me his 8mm master tapes since he could no longer provide playback for that format. It took me several attempts to transfer this tape
properly as it seemed to have either stretched over the years or suffered some form of deteriroation that resulted in a strange playback speed at
times. Perhaps it was a battery issue? The 8mm tape could not be directly captured by a computer as the results, when played back, were a constant
digitized jumble even though the image seemed fine from the original feed. A more stable format was needed as an intermediary and that is why I
transferred the 8mm master to a couple of professional DVCAM tapes. The DVCAMs still had problems dealing with the speed issues and because of the
digital nature of the beast, interpretted the imperfections by intermittently digitizing some frames. This is very noticeable during the 1st set. The
image regularly shifts in digital 'waves' (the best way I can describe it) but its just something that one adjusts to, as is the case with many boots.
There are also many drop outs during the 1st set as well. Then there were still problems with capturing the DVCAM source. Any AVI that I created that
had the standard 2GB cut-off was reading as a PAL format even though the DVCAM and my capture settings were NTSC. The PC was still sensing speed
issues and was getting it wrong, the timeline was jumping all over the place. This was strange because the 1st few test clips I did turned out fine.
It took a bit more trial and error until I finally figured out that if I kept the AVIs down to half their usual size, I'd finally have something to
edit and work with. Whew!

Now about the video. Hats off to pinkrabbit1 for filming way back in 1987. I'm sure that his camera weighed a ton after the 1st few songs. Videos from
back then are so rare and with the size of those old things its not surprising. These home video cameras didn't generally handle low light levels to
well either. PR was able to capture most of the show although many key songs are cut or missing. The camera changes locations after the 1st few songs,
starting from somewhere on the main floor and moving to the upper right balcony. The screen is only visible from the midpoint to the bottom. The
camera is often shakey but is also very nice for long stretches of time. This is certainly no where near the level of quality that we've been spoiled
with over the past few years, so this DVD may not be for everybody. I played this one on 4 different DVD players and it had some momentary
stuttering/freezing problems on each, so be forewarned! Just keep your fingers crossed I guess.

A BIG thanks to pinkrabbit1! Its his sacrifice and enthusiasm to share with us all that made this possible. I was just some keyboard monkey for this
one. This DVD has no affiliation with Harvested Records.

Enjoy!
