This mono recorder for Manchester '74 does not sound as good as Recorder 1. I sent a sample to lordsnooty a while back and he confirmed that the second taper was Brian H.

The songs are arranged on Kbrubaker's tapes over four sides:

A: Shine On You Crazy Diamond
B: Raving and Drooling / You Gotta Be Crazy
C: The Dark Side Of The Moon (fades)
D: The Dark Side Of The Moon (continues) / Echoes

Sides C and D sound better than A and B. I decided not to divide the music into individual songs for this raw release.

Sides A and C are recorded exceptionally hot on Kbrubaker's tapes, with Side C the louder of the two. I transferred Side A first, then made a tiny adjustment to the gain on the FSP14 for Side C. As Side D is a continuation of the music on Side C I left the levels as they were. I have not checked whether Sides C and D can be joined. If they cannot it could be that the recorder turned his levels down. Having completed work on Side D, I finished the job by transferring Side B at the same level. The results are therefore a good reflection of how the recording levels on these tapes fluctuate. For nearly all of the recording the right channel is slightly stronger than the left.

Both tapes run slow and I recorded all four sides at 88.2hHz, then changed the sample rate to 96kHz before exporting from Audacity to FLAC.
